What is Geography?

Geography is about what is on, above and below the earth’s surface. Geography is a science that seeks to find out and explain how places and people influence each other. Students learn about how processes at work in the world around them (i.e.: why things happen) and the various distribution patterns that result.

Geographic patterns and processes occur in both natural and cultural contexts. Understanding these things can be achieved by developing and using many different skills and ideas. Geographers can use this range of knowledge, skills and ideas is very useful as it leads to many different subject and career choices.
