Welcome to the Elim Visual Arts Website!
Here at Elim, students are encouraged to achieve personal excellence in their art learning, enable students to become life-long, inquiring learners and to train students to develop higher order thinking and problem-solving skills. The main art field in NCEA Levels 1-3 is Painting (mixed-media). Students will also learn introductory skills in Printmaking, Photography and Art Design.
Why Study Art? Through art, we can understand the creativity that God himself ordained – another reflection on God’s character. We have the opportunity to express ourselves through art, as God Himself expresses through creation. God’s world itself is a wonderful blend of colour, swirls, shapes and textures, symmetry and pattern. This course aims to provide a balance of your expression (flair, imagination, interpretation and own experiences), with order (information, skills, knowledge and instruction.)
